Identification and diagnosis of PMDD
When it comes to identifying Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (which we will refer to as
PMDD) it is important that the affected person keep a diary of symptoms for three months, day by day, to
check if your symptoms and worst days coincide with those of the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle
(from ovulation to menstruation). It is important that this journal focuses on the months of
autumn and winter, since those affected by this disorder usually experience a slight improvement
in the spring and summer months, coinciding with the increase in daylight hours. Once
completed this symptom diary, it is essential to find a doctor, whether it is general medicine,
gynecologist, psychiatrist or endocrinologist who knows about this disorder, or at least has heard of it.
To the left of this text you have a downloadable example of how to make a symptoms diary in Spanish to get started.
